42 is my lucky number

In past generations of Pokemon, the battle facilities have always felt a little out of reach for me. The gratuitous time sink involved in IV breeding and EV training pokemon even as recently as Black 2 and White 2 made the whole prospect not seem worth the effort. Enter all of the new mechanics of X and Y and suddenly it seems a lot more doable. In early November when everything was still new I made a team not really to win at the Battle Maison, but to be able to farm a reasonable amount of BP for Wi-Fi battling which is what I was really interested in. I EV trained them, but at the time I was still unaware how much easier it was to IV breed, so their IV's were all wonky. Time went on and occasionally I would hit a 25 streak if I was lucky, but I wasn't really worried about it.

About a month ago some friends of mine had told me that had already gotten a 50 streak in super singles so I started feeling a bit left out and decided to get serious, make a better team and get the last achievement in the game. I put together Mega Kangaskhan, Belly Jet Azumarill and Asult Vest Goodra. I knew there were probably better combos out there, but I wanted to give it a try with a team of my own creation. So I tried and tried, after about 10 attempts I managed to get two 42 streaks, but nothing higher. In frustration I decided once again to revamp my team, this time I did a little research and settled on one that I liked. This one:

Kangaskhan @ Kangaskhanite
Scrappy/Parental Bond
Adamant
EV's: 4hp, 252atk, 252spd,
-Return
-Crunch
-Power-up-Punch
-Sucker Punch

Gliscor @ Toxic Orb
Poison Heal
Impish
EV's: 252hp, 4atk, 252def
-Earthquake
-Aerial Ace
-Toxic
-Protect

Chansey @ Eviolite
Natural Cure
Bold
EV's: 4hp, 252def, 252spdef
-Seismic Toss
-Toxic
-Protect
-Soft Boiled

The main idea is to lead with Kangskhan, mega evolve, PuP as much as possible and run train on just about anything. In situations where Kangaskhan just can't quite handle it I have a physical and a special wall that can toxic stall just about anything. Gliscor is immune to status due to it's item and ability combo, and Chansey can switch out if statused thanks to Natural Cure, I try my best to make sure and have at least one partner alive so I have the option to switch if needed. Gliscor packs Aerial Ace to deal with those who try and raise their evasiveness and/or lower my accuracy. Kangaskhan makes using Substitute a futile effort, Chansey and Gliscor both have means of recovery. Kangaskhan even has a hard hitting form of priority. It seems like a dream team that covers all of each others weak points. After two 42 streaks, certainly I can do better than that now.

First run through of the Battle Maison with this trio of titans and where did I end up? A streak of 42...
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOHOOOHOOO!!!!

Admittedly there were a few close calls along the way, but they were always dispatched in one way or another. Then we meet Entei, packing Pressure, Chesto Berry, Will-O-Wisp, Flamethrower, Calm Mind and Rest. It was my opponents last Pokemon, but at this point Kangaskhan had bitten the dust after being burned by a Moltres' Flame Body. This set, and pretty much anything else bulky with Rest is pretty much a full stop to me once Kangaskhan is gone. I can't Toxic it because it will just keep resting off the damage, it lived an Earthquake from Gliscor and then burned it with Will-O-Wisp thus rendering it effectively useless. Seismic Toss only does 50 damage and is thus a 5-hit KO, even if I can get him while he's asleep he just wakes up and uses Rest again, and I can't PP stall because of Pressure. There was literally nothing I could have done.

So with my streak STILL at 42, I shall go in yet again, and exact my revenge. This time I will be a bit more prepared, and a bit more thirsty for blood. Wish me luck.
